What is your full name?
My full name is Linda Stulic. I have no middle names whatsoever. My last name is originated in Serbia (former Yugoslavia) where my parents lived.. although I'm born and raised in the Netherlands! Friends call me Lien, that might explain the Lienosaurus.
PhotographyWhat camera do you have and why this one?
The Canon EOS 400D! And it's a handsome one. I chose a canon-model because other brands are quite heavy and big. Canon has smaller models which fit better in my hands. I don't have a lot of muscles, no.
What equipments do you use for live shots?I don't have any particular equipments.. it kind of depends on the show. Every show is different, in another place, with another atmosphere. The main thing acutally is to get the atmosphere through a picture. So I can't really stuck onto a particular lens/program on taking these photo's. But, for example, at festivals I always use a zoomlens (70-300mm) so you can get close to the artist. As for hardcore shows, I mostly use a flashlight to get the dynamic plain hardcore shots.
When did you start taking photo's?Since august 2006, I believe.
How do you get to work for (music)magazines? The main thing to do is just to get yourself known. Build up a social network of for example photographers, musicians, journalists etc. Start a website where people can view your work easily and go mail the magazines! Sometimes they need someone who calls and says.. 'Here I am!' Be sure that when they hire you, you'll not always get payed. You can't expect that you'll get rich through live photography.. you can't make a living on that. As long as you do it for the love of it.. you're on the right path.
How do you get your press/photopasses?To get these you have to work for a medium, like a newspaper or a magazine. They have the contacts for the press accreditation (a form you have to fill) and that's actually how you get it.
How do you get in touch with bands?Well..there is not really a particular way of getting in touch with bands. To be honest I can only tell you how I got in touch with - for example
Moke. I went to a festival for BN/deStem where they played and got myself backstage for some shots. I met up with the lands and we became friends.. it's that simple actually. Ever since I can go to their shows for free whenever I want to take some nice pictures. Being backstage means there can be other artists/bands as well.. so do the math.
How do you protect your name/works?
I bought a copyright on my name (Lienosaurus) and all the content what's behind the LSRS is copyright protected by law. Mine are officially registred at Onel Trademarks. If one is trying to make a profit over my name/works, Onel will provide a lawyer etc. for the protection you'll need. It's quite hard but it's needed..apparently. If you find something suspicious online, by the way, please let me know! Contact me.
Do you have favourite photographers? Yes; Soren Solkaer Starbird
Can you photograph me/my band/my dog?Sure! Contact me.
Personal
How old are you?
13/08/1991 - do the math.
What school do you go to?
I'm currently in high school, HAVO 5 at the Norbertuscollege Roosendaal. But I already started at the Photo Academy based in Rotterdam, 2 months ago. Two educations at a time.. it's hard! But soon high school is over, luckily.
Do you have pets?Yes, I have a cat, Mickey. My mother and sister own 3 other cats. I also have 4 fishes called Johan, de zwarte, de witte and naamloos. I don't like dogs.
How do you get all those haircuts!I have a personal hairdresser, well, had actually as he quit his job quite recently. But he cuts and dyes it all. Mostly I just straighten it or when I feel like having curls I just leave it the way it is, as I have curls of my own. I'm lucky to have HUGE and LOTS of hair, so I can do whatever I want. The colours are just random. If you'd like to dye your hair as red as mine, please be sure that it's really harsh to get the red OUT. But I personally think it was worth it nonetheless :)
Where do you live?In Roosendaal, Netherlands. Nice town, nice old architecture. We even have an indoor sky-dive centre.
Where do you buy your clothes/jewelry etc?In shops, obviously. I don't really have any particular shops whatsoever. It's just random and low-budget.
Can I have your phonenumber/msn/address whatever?Nah.. really. I get these questions a lot... msn for personal friends only.
I do have myspace, though. Fanmail goes to lien@lienosaurus.com
What music do you like?I don't really like a lot of music, but I love Madchester bands. Indie, Shoegaze, Cool Brittannia, Britpop, 60s Chic, Russendisko.
Some examples: Kasabian, Stone Roses, Pop Levi, Spoon, Reverend and the Makers, The Greenhornes, Interpol, Oasis, Shantel. For more info check my
LastFM.
How do you get on 'the lists' for shows?Through magazines and newspapers I work for. But also bands, which I'm on tour with, which I have to photograph whatsoever and just being friends with the right people.
Which bands have you already seen?Pfffff that'll be lots and lots!! But I'll tell you my favourites:
Kasabian @ Lowlands
The Good, The Bad and the Queen @ Lowlands
Tool @ Lowlands
Otis @ Verkadehuis for Mosh Meeting
LeLe @ MTV Brand New
Dillinger @ Effenaar
Moke @ Oss, Dordrecht, Amsterdam, during DWDD broadcast.
The most horrid show was Kaiser Chiefs @ Lowlands as where we were standing in the very front, everyone started moshin and pushin so badly that we almost fainted. It was just too much.. Sonic Youth was terrible as well.
What do you do in your spare time?I love to go to shows anyway.. so I'm mostly traveling or shooting shows :) I also love to go to museums, discover new places and just rest in the bare sunshine. I obviously like shopping as well!
But I love to hang out with my friends, mostly in the city, going out etc. I also like to play games.. although I don't have got the time for that anymore.. I love GTA!
For those who ask me to give them any advice on their photography/work.. all I can say is just to continue! If that's what you love to do, then go for it. I'm not a proffessional so I can't give a proper answer and to be honest I don't really have got the time to view all your websites and give my opinion on it! I once again appologise, I'm just very very busy and it might take a lot of time before I'll get back at you.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! I love answering all your messages.
